Welcome to the College of Veterinary Medicine

Founded by an act of the Mississippi Legislature in 1974 and with its first classes beginning during the 1977-78 school year, the CVM has been producing the world's foremost veterinary professionals for nearly 50 years. Our Starkville, Mississippi campus is more than 40 acres in size, the majority of which is housed under one roof - the Wise Center. Within the walls of our main campus are classrooms and laboratories, but also a fully functioning animal hospital. Our flagship hospital, the Animal Health Center (AHC), provides emergency and referral care for large and small animal species in the region. Because of our onsite hospital, our veterinary students have unparalleled access to the kinds of experience and instruction that will ensure they are day-one ready when they graduate. Indeed, many of our students will have performed 90 or more surgeries prior to finishing vet school, far more than the national average.

The CVM is a member of the Division of Agriculture, Forestry, and Veterinary Medicine (DAFVM).
